Carstensz Pyramid is a dream

Carstensz Pyramid  is a mountain that has always been a dream of mountain climbers in the world. When you hear or read the name, it will come to mind climber, a mountain full of challenges and adventures.

Carstensz Pyramid Expedition starts from Zebra Wall (3,500 m). Zebra name is derived from the unique stone wall motif like Zebra skin, which has created thousands of years ago.

From here, we begin the expedition to Carstensz Base Camp, which will take approximately 3.5 hours by walking in the middle - the middle of the valley around the rocky walls - the stone. Travel a bit difficult, because they have to face the Mud and sharp rocks along the way.

Before entering the Base Camp area, we will pass the 3 lakes, commonly referred to as Lake 1, Lake 2 and lake 3. The lake is derived from rain and Glazer.

The stage was pretty impressive when we had to pass through "Door Wind". This is the gate to enter the valley Base Camp Area, where the wind was blowing very strong there, and therefore we have to go a little faster. After that, then we are passing through a flat area, where there are many small lakes, only then we arrive at Base Camp Base Camp called "Valley Lake - Lake" (4200 Masl).

From Valley lakes, we can see the Carstensz Summit, Puncak Jaya (Ngapulu) and Carstensz East. We will stop for a brief rest for a full day, to prepare themselves for the Summit Attack morning.

To be able to reach the top "Carstensz Pyramid ', we must have the ability to climb using a rope, climb capability thus very important here.

To avoid things that are not desirable, we must use climbing equipment is recommended. We have previously, to ensure that we have brought all of that is in the list of equipment needed. It's all to provide the best security and opportunity of our own, to reach the top.

Cliff first we've come across from the base camp, walk about 1.5 hours drive. We will see a wall with a height of approximately 60 m.

We will do some climbing with ropes, until we get to the spacious terrace, where we can rest for a while, before starting to climb the peak. From here up to the roof terrace will take approximately 15 minutes, by walking on the rocks (on the plains of sharp rocks and wet).

At this stage of climbing to the top, feels it would be difficult, at up to 60 degrees in slope of the wall, with a height of 45-50 m, this is the path leading to the top of the hill.

We must realize our true self with stamina respectively, by adjusting the optimum tempo ourselves.

To reach Carstensz Summit, we had to walk on the ridge of the mountain, where the road only has a width of 2-3 m. For that, we have to walk with extra caution, given the stamina we had already begun to weaken. It should also be remembered, from this point, we still took approximately 1.5 hours, to really get at the summit Carstensz.

With the right strategy, we would be able to survive to reach the peak Carstensz dream of every climber.

With an experienced guide and tough, we can stand up to the peak Carstensz.Carstensz Indonesia SurvivalJemmy "Moose"

Carstensz Glacier

The Carstensz Glacier is near the peak of Puncak Jaya (sometimes called Mount Carstensz or the Carstensz Pyramid) which is a mountain in the Sudirman Range, western central highlands of Papua province, Indonesia. The glacier is situated at an altitude of approximately 4,600 metres (15,100 ft) and is 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) east of the summit tower of Puncak Jaya. The Carstensz Glacier is 1.4 kilometres (0.87 mi) in length and .60 kilometres (0.37 mi) wide.

Research presented in 2004 of IKONOS satellite imagery of the New Guinean glaciers indicated that in the two years from 2000 to 2002, the Carstensz Glacier had lost a further 6.8% of its surface area. An expedition to the remaining glaciers on Puncak Jaya in 2010 discovered that the ice on the glaciers there is about 32 metres (105 ft) thick and thinning at a rate of 7 metres (23 ft) annually. At that rate, the remaining glaciers in the immediate region near Puncak Jaya are expected to last only to the year 2015.

The remaining remnant glaciers on Punkak Jaya were once part of an icecap that developed approximately 5,000 years ago. At least one previous icecap also existed in the region between 15,000 and 7,000 years ago, when it also apparently melted away and disappeared.
